Add some Minimilistic Style to Your Home with These Ideas
Minimalist style is very popular in the world of home decor right now, so maybe it’s time for you to try it out too. If you haven’t tried anything like this before, you should start small by adding a little minimalist style to your home. The ideas that you’ll find below offer ideal places to start, so read on now.
Restrain Your Colour Choices

First of all, you need to think about the issue of colour. This is a pretty significant issue when you’re making changes to your home. You need to be a bit more careful and show more restraint if you want to move forward with a minimalist style. Keep things pared down, and don’t use colours that leap out and demand attention too overtly. Those styles can work for some people in certain settings, but there’s nothing minimalist about them. Pastel colours, white and cream shades are all good for people seeking a less cluttered minimalist style.

Add Flat Surfaces and Dispense of Fine Details

There are so many great furniture items out there, but make sure you choose the ones with flat surfaces and simple designs. These are the ones that are going to help you when creating a minimalist style in your home. Everything from free standing sliding wardrobes to coffee tables can be found with these designs. They should be as simple as possible. You don’t want anything with too many fine details grabbing your attention. Clean lines and simplicity are essential.

Declutter and Draw Attention to Focal Points

One of the most important things to do if you want to make your home a little more minimalist is declutter. When you take the clutter out of your home, you can draw attention to the things that matter most. So, as you declutter, make sure you find what you feel should be the focal point of the entire home. This is something that is relatively easy to do. For example, in a living room, the sofa and coffee table might be the focal point of the room, so make them stand out. Remove the unnecessary items that are distracting away from those things at the same time.

A problem that you can face when you are looking to make things more minimalist is that everything can start to look dull and samey. This is an easy problem to overcome, though. You just need to make use of different textures. These don’t crowd a room or make it feel overwhelmed. But at the same time, they add some variety that you might otherwise be missing. It makes things in the home feel different, but this is done in a very subtle way, so the space can still easily feel minimalist. So, if you try any of the other ideas here, try this alongside it.

Opting for a minimalist aesthetic in your home doesn’t have to be too difficult. It’s perfectly possible to make it work if you’re willing to try out the kinds of ideas discussed above.

Whilst these are all very good ideas and I have personally tried to de-clutter the Happy House...clutter seems to home in on me! I suppose being that my favourite hobby is bargain hunting doesn't help very much LOL!

But it is a good idea to pare down on colour...we have taken out a lot of colour in our new home, although it worked in our cottage, it doesn't work here.  This is a modern house with a slanted scandinavian style roof, grey windows and door with modern fixtures and fittings, so rather than fight it, we have gone with it.  Cutting down on the colour has helped us feel less cluttered in our heads and if I need a boost, I just step out into our garden, where the colour is overflowing.
PS I have chosen these pictures myself and although most don't probably fit in with the minimalistic mantra...that is as far as I can go with the minimalist thing...as personally I love a little bit of personality in a room, but each to their own [Happy Face] xx
