If you’re looking at your garden thinking about how you could do a lot more with it to pretty it up a little, but aren’t sure where to start - here are some simple ideas that can make a big difference.
Remove the weeds
Weeds can be incredibly annoying because you can remove them as much as you like, but they will eventually return with a vengeance. They have the ability to make a whole garden look messy, so make sure you keep on top of them. Pull them out from the roots and/or cover them in boiling water. They will eventually shrivel up and die, without harming the area like certain weed killers can do.
Clean that patio
Your house isn't the only thing that needs a spring clean - don't neglect your patio or decking. If it's concrete, then some warm soapy water is all you need. Just give it a good scrub, and it should look as good as new, but if you have some stubborn areas then you may need to bring out the big boy - a pressure washer.
Fill out your lawn
Fertilising your grass is a great way to make it look and feel a lot healthier while filling up any patchiness you have going on, it also prevents weeds from growing too. Gardeners say you should do it around four times a year to follow the seasons, and depending on how big the area is, it should only take a couple of hours. Within no time, your garden will be much greener, so much so that your neighbours will be asking what sorcery you have used.
Plant some colour
If you haven't got flowers in your garden already - get some. Bringing colour into the space will create something stimulating for your eyes to look at. They are also a good distraction to take attention off areas that you don't like in the garden. You could even put them around the fence to give it a little more decoration if it's looking bland. Scatter them around or hang them off things, get creative with it instead of just putting them on the ground.
Add a water feature
When you think water feature, your mind naturally goes onto something super expensive and regal looking. - You don't need anything like that (unless that's what you want of course!) But think simple, like a bird bath. It will look lovely in your garden, but it will also attract the birds which is always a nice thing. Imagine watching them have a quick dip and a singsong while you bask in the sun.
Shine a light
What better way to create a wonderful atmosphere than with some lights? This can be anything from solar lights, fairy lights, candles or lanterns. There are also many magical ways you can create your own lighting ideas with things like mason jars, tealights, and glitter, so get creative. Not only will this save you some money, but no one else will have anything quite like it.Love Happy x
