Recently I read a post about getting more visitors to your site...I don't really read this kind of thing usually...but somehow I was reading it!...and there it was in black and white....'DON'T BLOG TOO MUCH ABOUT YOURSELF' ...well that was a bit of a shocker for me, as all these years that is exactly what I HAVE been doing!
...And then I thought about the popular blogs...you know the ones that win awards for the BEST blog in town by the Telegraph and wotnot...and I thought to myself...well they blog about other peeps all the time and even get people to blog for them...so I suppose the comment was right, as these people have a hundred zillion followers!
So I have started to blog about other things and plus I have started to try and blog everyday...so I suppose when you get into that genre of blogging once a day...you do have to get a little help from other people and then that will 'hopefully' make things a bit more interesting for people.
What with my last post, and the lovely comment by Bohemian, I started to wonder whether peeps would just as sooner look at my pictures and read about the notions that go on in my head (WARNING I AM MAD :D)
And then!..Freddy said to me yesterday...'Don't loose your roots'.
And suddenly I panicked...what am I doing!
I think sometimes it best to not read too much on the internet and by the looks of things I had taken this article to heart...So..
What do you think...after all you are my readers and I value your opinion more than any article, so I want you to tell me what you want from me and what you would like to see on my blog...
I have been blogging for 7 years now...so as you can imagine, I have blogged a lot about me!
Please help my lovelies and tell me what you think...I would really appreciate it :)
.
I like your blogs just as they are!
ReplyDeleteI say be true to yourself and carry on just the way you are....your blog is fabulous and you might find yourself coming unstuck if you are trying to please others......I think it's by normal to have moments of self doubt but 7 years successs speaks volumes! Xxxx
ReplyDeleteKeep doing what you do best! Just because some blogs work well a different way, doesn't mean you need to change.
ReplyDeleteStay true to yourself. I like the personalization of reading about you. :)
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt give what youre already doing a second thought. you have over 2000 followers..
ReplyDeletekeep doing what your doing.
xoxo
I totally agree with Freddy. In the end YOU have to be happy with the blog post you publish, or what's the fun in it all?!
ReplyDeleteHi Friend, I enjoy you blog. Don't change a thing. Wonderful! Anna
ReplyDeleteIt's your blog, so follow your heart and talk about whatever you want! (Personally I love your blog just as it is!) And remember, reading blogs is like peeking inside the back windows of someone's house so that you can see what is really going on there. We humans tend to have a morbid curiosity and love living vicariously through other people's lives. Just do what makes you happy!
ReplyDeleteIf it's not broke, don't fix it! Stay as sweet as you are
ReplyDeleteLove Claire xx
I like you just the way you are. Don't change for some dude's silly post.

Keep doing what you are doing, your blog is just lovely. I see what the article, and ou, are saying though. I think the blogs with gazillion followers post other content I.e images from elsewhere. If tht's what works for them it's great but anyone can do that, your blog is real, about you with pics of your own stuff . Don't change x
ReplyDeleteI read mostly blogs where people write about themselves, their families and have lots of pictures, so you're asking the wrong person. I love your blog and all its color and personality. Don't change a thing!
ReplyDeletePeople love your blog because its you. I say leave things as they are. "it's not broken so why mend it" xxx
ReplyDeleteI say keep doing what yer doing1 I actually prefer the blogs where the writers talk about themselves, their lives etc, as done well, as in your case, it's like catching up with chums. And I'm a nosey cow so I love the invitation into peoples lives.xxx
ReplyDeleteplease stay as you are! its a lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and your happy colourful pictures of your happy house :)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog- all your thoughts and pictures! You inspire others so much and you always make me smile!
ReplyDeleteI've thought about these things too. Then I asked myself a question. Am I doing this for me, to gain, friends, to grow a business? STay true to what makes you feel good, not stressed. I love hearing about you, your little adventures, your crafts and your family. I have noticed when some of the bloggers I have been following start to go strictly towards selling their classes and wares - I start to lose interest. I'm not sure why...but maybe because I start feeling like they are JUST there to sell me something. Coming to your blog is like stopping in to visit a friend who has the same interests. I love you and your hubbys wicked sense of humor. I say just go with what nakes you happy, in the end THAT is what really matters!
ReplyDeleteHugs -Pam
Your blog is always so cheerful and fun to stop by and read. Some people would be well advised to not write about themselves!!! But I always enjoy your style of chatting about what fun thing you are up to and how you are redoing your home.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I always enjoy seeing on a blog is a tutorial or How-to. When you have created something fun and clever, I love knowing how it was done in case I want to try it myself. Or how to fit something vintage into my decorating. You must be the queen of getting it all to work! :)
Thank you for your wonderful blog and all the hard work you put into it! {{{Hugs}}} :)
~ We love YOU just the way YOU are!
ReplyDeleteOoh sounds like that song!! hehe...
The blogs I am drawn to and find the most enchanting are those that say more and have a beating heart, my friend! I love reading about peeps and this put together with all YOUR eye candy....Well a match made in heaven.... Take time to dream~ I have been reading your wonderful blog for at least 5 years...YOU have brightened many a grey day! hehe..
Love Maria x Thank You also for the wonderful freebies you share!
You're blog is beautiful, YOU are beautiful, that's why people want to follow you. Dont' buy into all that statistic nonsense, the amount of followers you have is NOT a barometer of how popular you are. Some people become followers because they want more folk to follow them - this much I have learned since I've been blogging but in the end, it's not the be all and end all of life, just a little part of it and should never be taken too seriously, in my humble opinion. Phew!!...sorry for the rant but this following lark can get a bit out-of-hand sometimes. Stay exactly as you are - Very Sweet!:-)
ReplyDeleteI've been Blogging for four years and have a grand total of 25 followers, obviously I'm doing everything wrong, but I thought what the heck, I love bumbling away on my Blog if and when I want to, my little voice.
ReplyDeleteSo my thoughts are your husband's stay true to your Roots.
Christy
It's all about having fun! If we have to give it too much thought then it becomes more of a chore I mix it up with all sorts of show and tell. Hugs, Diane In California
ReplyDeleteMy darling,Girl.Do not change a thing I love everything you write and show and your blog is a total delight.I have been blogging for a while but my follower list doesn't really grow so im never sure if many people are reading my blog or not but I do it as a memory bank for my own enjoyment and am thrilled if people do read my musings. So 'to thine own self be true' it is.Sending you love from N.Yorks xx
ReplyDeleteI love you just the way you are! x
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the above, stay as you are. I see blogs as a note from a penpal, catching up on news, making sure they are safe and well, what is going on in their lives, and that's what I try to reflect myself (even though I am new at all this and not an expert like you). Don't change! xx
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, Happy. And I think that bloggers who blog about other people or have guest bloggers don't have their own unique point of view that is worth sharing. They don't have their own 'thing' that they do really well, they can only draw people to their blog by showing other people's works. Now you on the other hand, DO have a unique view, and a wonderful home that is a never ending source of eye candy. That's why I keep coming back!
ReplyDeleteI follow lots of blogs because I like seeing how others live. I love seeing their crafts, hearing about their trips, seeing how they decorate their homes, and even hearing their thoughts on different things. Taking the personal aspect out of a blog and it's just like a boring news site.
ReplyDeleteSo...like everyone else who have commented, I also vote for keeping it personal. :)
Brenda
I love everything about your blog...it's colorful, HAPPY, entertaining, love the pictures of your home and all your goodies.....and think it is so adorable.I wouldn't change a thing.......I look forward to reading it.......Have a Happy Valentine's Day dear Happy......

Don't change a single thing! We all love reading about you and your lovely family, and your musings -that's what makes it a fab blog and original to you!!! X
ReplyDeleteI say please stay as you are dont change a thing. Its not about how many followers you get its about the quailty of those readers and their support to you thats more important i feel. Not everyone comments and those that do are the special ones and the ones that care thats how i feel anyway. It takes time to comment and read someones blog. I love hearing about your life and seeing your beautiful home, dee x
ReplyDeleteI say do what YOU want to do and blog about what YOU want to blog about! Like a gal said above, she's been blogging for four years and only has 25 followers! Well, I've been blogging for six years and only have 199 followers so I'm obviously doing everything wrong too, but so what! I blog when I am inspired, don't feel pressured to do so and write about whatever I want. I don't think that "numbers" mean anything. If people are doing it for the number of followers they have, then they are doing it for the absolute wrong reason! Just my two cents!
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm a day late catching up on reading but Happy, trust me, I just want Happy. I come here to read about you, to see your awesome pictures, I never get tired of it ... I'm with Freddy, don't lose yourself, stay with us girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I started blogging daily 11.1.12 and it's not hard to get in the groove. Some days you'll just feel like taking tons of pics, some days you'll feel like writing about several different things - do it when the mood strikes, then you'll have a few posts you can use when your mojo is sagging, it happens to us all haha.
Love you,
Hugs ~ Mary
I say this, "if it ain't broke, then don't fix it" and your blog is NOT broke!! (I know , very poor grammar, but I'm making a point here.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the person that said some blogs are getting to be more like and ad for all of their wares, yours is salway fun and well "happy"
so there you go, but very humble opinion!!
Hugs
maggie
I always love your blogs just the way they are. I understand when ladies not blog everyday, even though I love that. I check everyday and when I find a new post, it's like a gift! Blog about anything you want. I love the pictures of your home-it is so exciting.
ReplyDeleteTana
I love your blog the way it is. I adore your photos and color combinations you come up with in them, believe me that totally amazes me and I say to myself 'Why can't I do that?' Well I can't I just don't have what you have, it's a talent girl you are the best! I wouldn't go fooling with success.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog just the way you've done it in the past! The pictures you take of your own house and caravan are super. Just keep with your own style is my vote!. Your pancake topping of lemon & sugar sounds good! Will try that next time we have a "Rainy Morning Pancake Day"! Marlynne
ReplyDeleteI'm late putting my two pennies worth in but like everyone else keep the blog how it is/how you like it.
ReplyDeleteI think many of us start blogging because we've read or been inspired by another and suddenly we're doing things to get 100s of comments or make others happy... your blog is fabulous and colourful and I love it just the way it is!!
