ok ok! so I keep having dreams about babies and not feeding them! strange I know! but seeing as I am going through my Perimenopause I suppose you can at least give me a bit of sympathy! Lol! ....
So do you suppose that is the reason for me, creating a mess in every room...yes gals...I am still dusting, moving and sorting! and I am nearly at the end of my second week! Yikes!...I am chucking out my chintz...getting rid of everything that just wasn't really me!
You see, the Happy Shabby look is Quintessentially English with splash of French Shabby Chic...it was never 1970's Kitsch and it was never 1970's Retro...I still love those things that I have bought over this last year, but they just do not suit my Karma!...(if you like them...they will be in my store shortly HERE please keep a look out)
...and because I am a perfectionist...everything has to be done just right! so I am painting, dusting and moving stuff that has not been dusted, moved and painted for a long time!...is it nesting? Because I am now a middle aged woman and I feel the need to clean! lol!
Oh well whatever the reason....it is all looking good!...I keep telling Freddy, not to worry I will be finished soon...but I have a feeling the total Happy House Make-over won't be finished for another week! Eek!
Rosie bought some friends home with her earlier this evening...and I found myself apologising for all the mess on the Dining Room table (and all around the house, if I am truthful ;)) I did also suggest that they might like to take something home with them...but they didn't get my drift! lol!
We have also had a vintage feather quilt DISASTER! Yep I decided to lazily wash a vintage feather filled quilt in the washing machine!!! NEVER AGAIN! for we were scooping feathers out of the machine for about 5 days...and I really did think that we were going to have to call the Doctor in to fix it...but where there is a will...theres a way! and the fact that we kept on trying to clear the blockage ourselves...we finally suceeded and it is now fully functional again Thank Goodness :) Oh the smell of lovely Daz powder and Yellow Lenor...is irristable Hmmm!
We also have a dilema! You see Freddy wants to keep said (above) Ugly McDonalds RETRO Chair which is not 'Quintessentially English with a splash of French Shabby Chic' (remember he did tell me I had free range to do what I wanted in the house!) and Guess What! I don't!...Infact I want it put into the garage storage! even Room 101 will do! lol! I want my red and white stripey pug chair bag with pretty shabby cushions....
So please help my lovelies...what do you think...
I'll keep you updated with progress...should be another couple of days! fingers crossed.

You'll get there, the only way to do it properly is to just take your time & clean & sort as you go. & it really doesn't need to be finished until it's time to start Xmas decorating. :-)
ReplyDeleteI subscribe to Vintage Caravan Magazine & they have a sneak peak of the issue with your gorgeous little caravan on the front cover.
I have to say thank you Happy, it was seeing your yummy little van on your blog that got me started. We bought a lovely bondwood vintage van & are slowly stripping it all back ready to be repainted. See, you change people's lives with your blog. :-)
No, don't like the chair, in fact it's vile (well honesty is the best policy). It will be someone's heaven though, the only good thing it has going for it is it's colour! Middle aged and having a clear out? Im sitting in my study writing this and thinking ive landed on top of the local tip! Maybe I should get started to! x
ReplyDeleteBring it on, I love the retro chair! It looks great with all those cushions and things on. I suppose I'm more for the retro than the shabby even though I appreciate both. But hey, if you really don't like it, get rid. Whatever makes you happy in your home. Btw, you have the best collection of retro kitchenware I think I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteSorry but that chair just reminds me of one that was in the big brother diary room some years ago. But in the right room its a fab shape
ReplyDeleteO dear your talking to the wrong girl here as i loved and adored your vintage items and i love the chair to. But you both have to be happy and compromise is the key to that im fraid. I have to say my heart was racing when i saw your items on the kitchen table....tupperware containers....and omg that orange and white casserole dish is devine. Can't wait to see it when its all finished. dee xx
ReplyDeleteCan the chair fit in the caravan that Fred uses to do his work in? Then he could sit in it out there! Glad you are finding your spirit and going for what you feel. Hope Rosie is doing well. It is so great to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteI discovered this blog and all its colors!
ReplyDeleteI love!
See you soon!
