So you can imagine that my birthday, is shared with thoughts of him and I couldn't possibly do this post without mentioning him. I lit a candle for him, as indeed I do every year. He was a great inspiration to me, and you will often find me chatting away to him, as I always feel that he is with me....and more so in this house, as I often can smell the tobacco that he used to smoke on our landing :)....
Freddy always buys me roses for my birthday, as you know how much I love them....and this year he chose these lovely pink ones...Oh I just so love pink, Rosie also bought me a little rose plant...which I adore!
This was the lovely sight when I came downstairs for my Birthday breakfast....oh yes that is the tradition in the Happy House! Croissants, scrambled eggs, salmon and bacon Yum Yum! Off course I opened my cards and presents first! Thats a tradition too!
...and oh my goodness! what a lucky gal I was indeedy! Rosie bought me some lovely perfume...thats smells gorgeous! so now I will be ever soooo irrisistable! (lol) and Freddy bought me the Trellis Rose Day Bag from CATH KIDSTON that I have had my eye on for ages! and a provence rose card holder...which is soo divine!
All day long I sat in my comfy armchair and was brought coffee and tea, biscuits and chocolates....and we watched films and from time to time played in the snow...oh it felt sooooo special and Happy being with the people that I love :)
The weather outside was like a Christmas card scene...and I loved it...tis not often you get snow especially ordered for your Birthday now is it!
(see previous post...might be getting a little bored of it now! LOL!)
Whilst we were chatting...we decided that we should venture into the loft soon and get our Christmas decorations up....we might even have a fresh tree this year...we quite fancy that!
...and we'll have to start wrapping all those presents up, too, that I have been purchasing! Thank goodness for on-line shopping! Although we have had no post now for 3 days! Eek!
speak soon
Happy Birthday, enjoy the snow!

Belated birthday wishes, Happy! It looks like you had a lovely day. I am shocked at the amount of snow you have! Now, I can see us getting that here in NEW England, but not in your backyard. (It is pretty, though, isn't it?) And, no post for three days? Maybe they should adopt this motto of the U.S. Postal Service:
ReplyDelete"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
What a wonderful, beautiful , lovely blog you have...makes me really happy and I will surely come her often :) My mother´s birthday is the same day as yours so we´we just celebrated her last weekend *****

ReplyDeleteA happy Happy Belated Birthday to YOU!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a special day that you have shared with your Dad.... i am thinking your Mom is comforted by this also.
I am wondering if you meant that your Dad's statue is of Mary, Our Blessed Lady, Mother Of Jesus, Our Eternal Mother are a few of her titles/names. People ask Mary to pray for them to Our Lord... just as one may ask a dear friend to pray for us in a difficult time or...
Your Dad truly had a beautiful statue of her and the infant Jesus! AND what beautiful arrangement you have made in his honor!!! What a special place!! You are very very fortunate. I am also very happy for you that your Mom is with you. I too lost my Dad when my children were small and may not have my mom much longer.
Lastly, the day my Dad died I smelled my Grandfathers tobacco pipe and also cigarette smoke from my Dad. I still sense his cigarette smoke every once in a while even though we have moved.. so do not be fearful if you move form your home ever... This topic came up recently and they said when you get a sense of a loved one that has passed on, it is good to say a prayer for them.
I am very happy for you!!!
With Kindness and Love,
Mary
